It's Happening

I want to help people. The knowledge I have about HR, careers, and education have served me enough that I can serve others. That is what it's all about. I get referrals from people I know from previous jobs or from family/friends. But lately, people who have seen my posts on social media have reached out to me. People who don't know me from a can of paint. What they do know, however, is they like my content and trust that I know what I am talking about. My passion is brining people in. Influence..it's happening. It is a slowly growing thing, I don't want you to think my DMs and emails are flooded (yet). But the beginning of brand establishment has started. All those things that happen when you post consistently. When you be yourself. When you trust God and allow Him to lay out your purpose despite whatever may appear to stand in your way. It's happening.

I started this blog to give a look into my world as a millennial who cares about the way we (humans) make a living. How we use our gifts. How we are treated. In 2022, I will start teaching on this blog. I hope what I've posted thus far has given you an idea of who I am. I still have a handful of other more introductory posts to go before we get to the meat.

Tears + a Pay Raise

I got a pay raise. You know how they send that document showing what you've been making prior to the increase and then your new rate and updated annual income? I got that paper. I stared at the dollar amount in complete silence for about 30 seconds. That silence was broken by a cry. Now some of you may be thinking the cry was for the dollar amount; I moved up to a higher salary bracket all together or maybe this bump was higher than expected. Honestly I cried because after multiple years of working at the establishment I realized that I have been and continue to earn far less than my worth. I am beyond qualified for this gig and it no longer is in alignment with what I believe to be my path. So back to the cry..I wasn't upset at all. Even with the realization of where I stood financially, this was a victory cry. This was the acknowledgement of the power of GOD and His hand over my life. This was His ability to bless me with opportunities during a global pandemic. This was...

End of an Era

What do you tell the girl who wants to spend her life writing? Tell her no. Tell her she would be poor if she became a writer. Tell her "the money" is in another industry..in this case it was healthcare. Tell her that her writing skills are only useful in academia. Tell her that her gift is a hobby. I spent over a decade where I didn't belong.. I don't regret it because of the experiences and people I've met and grown with as a result of working in healthcare. I have the utmost respect and admiration for healthcare workers. It was just time to go..
